About the Respiratory Care Program
Respiratory Care is the allied health specialty concerned with the treatment, management, control and care of the patient’s breathing. Respiratory therapists provide the hands-on care that helps people recover from a wide range of medical conditions.
History
Highline’s Respiratory Care program began in 1967 and first offered its students an AAS degree. The program has long held national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, and has always been highly regarded in the Pacific Northwest.
Highline’s graduates score among the highest in the nation on national post-graduation examinations and are employed throughout the Pacific Northwest in a variety of locations and facilities.
Highline now offers a Bachelors of Applied Science degree.
The BAS Respiratory Care degree builds on this strong foundation, ensuring students receive a relevant and timely education. The BAS program enrolls those with an AAS Respiratory Care degree and gives them the coursework needed to complete the Bachelors degree requirements. We expect these graduates to be prepared to assume leadership positions in the Respiratory Care profession.
